Innovative Health Information Resource Connects
Hospitals, Physicians, Patients
IRVING, Texas, Dec. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- LaurusHealth announced today the addition of 43 health care organizations to its expanding national network of members. This brings LaurusHealth's total membership to 50 health systems and 105 hospitals.
Created by VHA Inc., LaurusHealth is designed to help member health systems enhance relationships with their consumers, physicians and payors through information sharing. Through a Web site (www.LaurusHealth.com) and a free 24-hour call center (1-800-4-Laurus), LaurusHealth provides reliable, easy-to-understand health information to help consumers make more informed decisions about their health. It also connects them to local physicians, hospitals and health resources. And unlike many health Web sites, LaurusHealth does not sell or share personal information from consumers who visit or use the call center, a key issue to many in the health industry.
"The addition of these institutions demonstrates LaurusHealth's ability to help local health systems fulfill their mission of improving the health of their communities by making credible health information easily accessible," said Bruce Brennan, VHA vice president, consumer services. "LaurusHealth uniquely positions local health systems as the source of information for consumers and provides a local connection through listings of their physicians, hospitals and other health resources."
Participating health systems receive a link to the LaurusHealth Web site. They also get listings of their physicians and hospitals and a link to their hospital site on the LaurusHealth site. Enhanced options are also available, including co-branding, fully integrated Web sites, physician information tools and comprehensive hospital and physician profiles.
LaurusHealth has grown rapidly since its national launch last April. Other health care organizations affiliated with LaurusHealth are: Crozer-Keystone Health System in Philadelphia; Novant Health System in Charlotte and Winston- Salem, NC; The Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu; Nebraska Methodist Health System in Omaha, NE; INTEGRIS Health System in Oklahoma City, OK; Hillcrest Health System in Tulsa, OK; and Halifax Community Health in Daytona Beach, FL.
"We anticipate that many additional VHA members will join LaurusHealth in the next few months as a way to enhance their Web sites and consumer and physician outreach programs," said Brennan.
The technology platform for the LaurusHealth.com Web site is provided by HEALTHvision, a leading healthcare Internet company formed through the merger of the Internet-based resources of VHA Inc. and Eclipsys Corporation (Nasdaq:ECLP). HEALTHvision rapidly develops and delivers new and existing Web solutions to link healthcare organizations, physicians and consumers across the continuum of care.
VHA is a nationwide network of more than 1,850 leading community-owned health care organizations and their physicians. The VHA network comprises 24 percent of the nation's community hospitals. For more information on VHA, go to http://www.vha.com.
