SIR CHARLES SAYS FAREWELL: Houston Rockets forward Charles Barkley, 37, relaxes prior to playing in his last NBA game against the Vancouver Grizzlies in Houston. Barkley, who had been out since Dec. 8 with a ruptured knee tendon, was determined to play one last time before he ends his 16-year career in the NBA. When Barkley took the floor with 7:26 to go in the second quarter of Houston's regular-season finale, he got a standing ovation from cheering fans. Barkley finished with six minutes of playing time, two points, one rebound, one assist and a blocked shot. After the game, which Houston lost 96-92, Rockets Executive Vice President Carroll Dawson (below) gave Barkley the backboard from which he made his final rebound as a retirement gift. After playing six seasons with the 76ers, Barkley was traded to the Phoenix Suns and led the team to the NBA Finals, where the Suns lost to Bulls in 1993. He played four seasons with Houston.
